FOUNDERS

Long ago in 2010, we embarked on our journey in the field of computational molecular modeling, machine learning, and chemoinformatics (Pharmacoinformatics) at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical and Education Research (NIPER), Mohali, INDIA. Our experience since then has allowed us to gain a wealth of skills and extensive knowledge in the implementation of AI and machine learning. We have been exposed to diverse work cultures, encountered a range of academic and industrial professionals, and visited numerous locations worldwide. This has significantly improved our capacity to effortlessly apply a scientific approach to any problem we encounter.

The foundation of our career was established through the education provided by Indian institutes. Additionally, we were fortunate to receive exceptional training at several European research institutes from Poland, Portugal, and Spain, which further influenced the trajectory of our careers. As a result, we believe that our experiences can significantly benefit future generations in the field of science and technology.

I had the privilege of receiving exceptional training during my Bachelor's in Pharmacy (2006-10) from UDCT (aka UICT/ICT), Mumbai, which provided a solid foundation in pharmaceutical knowledge. However, it was my Master's degree in Pharmacoinformatics (2010-12) from NIPER, Mohali, that unveiled a new paradigm of in silico research, expanding my horizons and igniting a passion for cutting-edge scientific exploration in drug designing.

From 2013 to 2017, while pursuing my Ph.D. at the Department of Biophysics, Bose Institute, Kolkata, I developed expertise in drug discovery through an interdisciplinary approach. Here I learned the significance of analyzing the correlation between in silico and in vitro findings which is a crucial way of understanding the effect of any ligand at both cellular and molecular levels. This knowledge has significantly contributed to my effective involvement in several drug discovery projects.

In 2017, I had the honor of being invited as a visiting researcher to the Laboratory of Environmental Chemometrics at the University of Gdansk, Poland (http://www.qsar.eu.org/). During this time, I actively participated in an international collaborative project focused on multi-target-directed drug discovery.

Following an extended maternity break, in 2021 I returned to the realm of drug discovery with a precious reward of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions-Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF). During this fellowship, I served as a senior researcher at the vibrant company known as MOLDRUG AI Systems, located in Valencia, Spain (https://moldrug.com/). This experience provided me with the unique opportunity to collaborate with an esteemed international research group at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol), affiliated with the University of Valencia, Spain. In addition to conducting core research in drug discovery, I created a web-based software tool called 'G4-QuadScreen' that facilitates the virtual screening of G-quadruplex binding ligands. This experience enhanced my abilities in the development of software tools related to drug discovery.

DR. PRAVIN AMBURE

Having completed my foundational education in Pune, India, I pursued my Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Sinhgad Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SIPS), affiliated with the University of Pune, in 2009. However, it was my Master’s in Pharmacoinformatics from NIPER, Mohali, India’s leading pharmacy institute, in 2012 that marked a significant turning point in my career. Here, I was introduced to the exciting in-silico aspect of pharmacy, opening up a world of possibilities.
